Matcha, ceremonial grade

Energy: ~320 kcal / 100 g dry (planning figure - the product label is the final reference)

How this figure was derived

Read from
~320 kcal / 100 g dry
Energy density
320 kcal / 100 g
Basis
Per 100 g — a weight. Applying it to a volume would be wrong.
Example, at 30 g
320 kcal / 100 g × 30 g ÷ 100 = ≈ 96 kcal

A planning figure, not a laboratory analysis. It is here so a recipe can be reasoned about, not so it can be declared on a menu.

How energy is derived

Shelf life: Sealed: months. Opened: use within weeks — it oxidizes fast and the colour dulls first.

Storage: Airtight, cool, dark — light and air are its enemies; a small tin refilled often beats a big open bag.

  • Straight matcha whisked with water — where ceremonial earns its price
  • Premium matcha service on the tea menu
  • For milk drinks, switch to culinary grade — the correct pick, not a downgrade

Sift 2 g first, add water at 70–80°C — never boiling — and whisk to a fine froth; skipping the sift means clumps no whisk can fix.

You drink the whole leaf: full caffeine plus L-theanine, so a serving counts entirely toward the ~400 mg/day adult caffeine guidance (much lower in pregnancy).
