How to use / SOP
Purpose
Confirm your water is actually suited to brewing before troubleshooting a shot or drip brew that tastes off.
Steps
- Test your water source with a TDS meter and a hardness test kit or strip.
- Enter the source name, TDS and hardness readings.
- Log the test to keep a record over time — water can drift as filters age.
- If readings are outside range, consider a filtration or remineralization adjustment before changing your brew recipe.
Reading the result
Water problems masquerade as grind or recipe problems — if extraction troubleshooting isn't working, test the water before adjusting the grind further.
Notes
Replace filter cartridges on schedule — a spent filter can drift TDS and hardness gradually without an obvious sign.
