Prep & conversion utilities

Syrup, milk and ice calculators for prep work, plus single-unit conversion from the command palette. Works offline, on your own device.

An interactive tool in the AlyOps operations suite. It runs entirely in your browser: the figures you enter stay on your device and are not uploaded.

How to use / SOP

Purpose

Quick reference for the conversions and calculators used constantly at a bar station — units, syrup, milk and ice.

Standard

Standard conversion factors (US customary for cup/tbsp/tsp); simple syrup as a sugar:water ratio by weight; steamed-milk volume accounts for typical foam expansion.

Steps

  1. Unit converter: pick a category, enter a value, choose the from/to units.
  2. Simple syrup: enter your target batch weight and the sugar:water ratio (1:1 standard, 2:1 rich).
  3. Milk steaming: enter the final drink volume and espresso volume — the tool subtracts espresso and accounts for foam expansion to tell you how much milk to pour before steaming.
  4. Ice ratio: enter glass volume and desired ice fill % to get the liquid volume to pour.

Reading the result

These are calculators, not recipes — pair them with your own recipe cards for exact drink specs.

Notes

Foam expansion varies by milk type, fat content, temperature and steaming technique, and this tool publishes no figure for it because none has been measured here. Measure it once on your own milk and your own wand — steam a known volume, pour, read the difference — and work from that.

Shortcuts

None.
