AeroPress
Applies to: standard upright AeroPress brew.
Target: under 2 minutes total.
- Rinse the paper filter in the cap with hot water and preheat the chamber and cup.
- Grind medium-fine immediately before brewing.
- Heat water to roughly 80–92°C — cooler than most other methods.
- Add coffee (roughly 15–17 g for a standard cup) into the chamber.
- Pour water to the target level and stir gently to fully saturate.
- Let steep for 1–2 minutes depending on the recipe.
- Insert the plunger and press down slowly and steadily until a hissing sound signals the chamber is empty.
- Stop pressing as soon as the hiss starts — pressing further extracts nothing but adds harsh notes.
- Clean, concentrated cup — dilute with hot water to taste if brewed strong.
- No excessive bitterness, which usually signals pressing too hard or too long.
AeroPress recipes vary widely (inverted method, longer steeps, different pressures) more than almost any other brewer — this is one standard starting recipe, not the only correct one.
